Financial Controller (Fixed Term Contract)

We're looking to appoint a commercially-focused Financial Controller on a 12-18 month fixed term contract. The role is currently set at 25 hours per week however, we would welcome applications from candidates looking for full time hours too.

About the Role

Based in our head office in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, as part of our international team of 40 colleagues (across Manchester, Auckland, Melbourne and New York), you will be a key member of MHM’s leadership team. We’re looking for a self-starter, who will work collaboratively with staff at all levels of the business. The successful candidate will thrive on operating autonomously and relish the opportunity to lead the formulation and delivery of our financial plans. You will work alongside the Chief Executive and senior colleagues to shape the company’s strategies as well as managing a small established finance team.

This is an opportunity play a key part in shaping our business goals. The role will require hands-on management of people, systems (Quickbooks and Excel) and processes facilitated by highly developed technical skills.The role is perfect for a qualified Accountant who has delivered successful financial strategies for B2B consultancies or agencies. However, we also warmly welcome applicants with wider SME or service sector experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be the financial lead across all areas of the business
  • To deliver, analyse and interpret management information for the Board-monthly management accounts, annual budgets, forecasts etc
  • To liaise and work with reporting accountants and professional advisors in the UK and overseas to produce year end statutory accounts and tax returns
  • To develop, implement and maintain effective management information systems that meet the needs of the business
  • To play a principal role in supporting the formulation of business plans
  • To lead and develop a small established Finance team
  • To be an effective business partner for the CEO

The Particulars

: Fixed-term up to 18 months depending on start date.
Hours of work

: £45,000 – 50,000 per annum (pro rata)
