Faber and Faber

Faber and Faber remains one of the last of the great independent publishing houses in London.

With the great depth of its backlist, featuring books by no fewer than twelve Nobel Laureates and six Booker Prize-winners, a thriving frontlist and ever-growing e-book list, and new ventures including the print-on-demand Faber Finds imprint, Faber Digital (publisher of the award-winning The Waste Land for iPad App), Faber Academy (the creative writing school), as well as Faber Factory Powered by Constellation, and Faber Factory Plus, the company continues to go from strength to strength.

In 2013 MHM were commissioned to examine the UK market for creative writing and related activities for Faber and Faber. Using #audienceatlasuk, our research revealed that half of culturally-engaged adults in the UK are interested in writing novels, stories, poetry or plays. Creative writing - at its broadest - is a majority interest. Theoretically this means over 22 million UK adults could be persuaded to write. Using our #culturesegments system we presented Faber with a way to navigate this market.
